  • ok Elainek send me an email so I can set you up - gibbgeor@hotmail.com
by George Gibb 3/26/2011 2:01:35 AM

  • @GeorgeGibb et al. Now as I see link referrals to essential sources coming in, perhaps it might be possible in some way to set up a sidebar widget that displays basic categorized menu of links, so that followers can conserve bandwidth by not having to search up and down the posts? Thanks!

  • Not seeing as much steam or 'white smoke' from the Daiichi site at 11am local time www.tepco.co.jp
    by amianda 3/26/2011 2:02:58 AM

  • Hey, this is cool!
    by FradyKat 3/26/2011 2:03:10 AM

  • The air is getting warmer, that might be a factor as to how much steam is seen.

    by hans 3/26/2011 2:07:21 AM

  • Guys, on a scale of 1-10, how bad would you say this situation is right now? Forget Chernobyl, just honestly, where are we at? I think at least 8 out of 10 and every potential of 10 out of 10 based on the news.
    by Grizzly 3/26/2011 2:07:53 AM

  • Thanks to all who intend to sign up for mod duties. For now, we mostly come from the previous incarnation of the Reuters Scribble, so we pretty much have a good feel for the moderation ambience. Let's endeavor to keep up the modding esprit de corps and strive always for the good of all (see what happened in Japan when a few twisted their honored discipline and honor code and brought Fukushima on all the world?) It's all up to us and nobody else to keep up excellence and public interest as top of mind. Let's get with this!
by Albert Lee in Manila 3/26/2011 2:08:42 AM

  • I would say we are at a 4, on the bad scale.
    by FradyKat 3/26/2011 2:08:50 AM

  • I think past 5, maybe 7
by Jim Carver 3/26/2011 2:08:55 AM

  • I think it is worse then Chernobyl, as it continues to occur. 2-3 days of fires at Chernobyl. 14 days of this now?

  • Thanks so much for this George. I have learned so much from the community on Reuters site. Very much appreciated.
    by Stormy 3/26/2011 2:11:35 AM

  • I was so saddened to see Reuters Live Coverage was gone so soon. Thanks so much for settin this one up. I have been a silent observer all along, just soaking up the information and sending it to friends in Japan when relevant to their situation. Nice to have this familiar format back. Thanks George, and I will update my information disemination to include this location.
    by JPH 3/26/2011 2:11:57 AM

  • the potential for the worst nuclear disaster in human history is there. but right now, from what we know, most of the evil evil stuff is still contained. so though every day brings us closer, in my opinion we are still not there, and not where chernobyl was. remember, soviets threw nearly a million of people at the thing, burying it and cleaning the worst up..
    by MH 3/26/2011 2:12:08 AM

  • I also think that the concern of the reactors leaking is just silly. The fuel storage pools are exposed to the air already. They have the same fuel in them as the reactors.
by Ralph Unger 3/26/2011 2:12:26 AM

  • i'll be reading for a couple mins brb
