CEMRC has released some new radiation readings from the WIPP incident on February 14th.

CEMRC readings below. Some notes to keep in mind. CEMRC cites a “per sample” on their becquerel readings. DOE does not, so it is not 100% clear if the bq readings from the two sources are comparable.
CEMRC’s readings appear to confirm the DOE readings showing the release blew to the north west. The sample that is .6 miles NW is lower that the onsite reading but ran for two days less. CEMRC had earlier complained about not being allowed site access. This could account for the discrepancy between the on site filter collection date and the off site date. CEMRC did try to run two additional offsite filters for the remaining days to try to account for this.
CEMRC stated in the public meeting the other day that they have collected the monitoring filters housed before and after the HEPA filters on the exhaust system. That data should be available within a week or less.
The CEMRC data and the DOE data seem to indicate the above ground release was not huge. More data is supposed to be forthcoming including a wider array of sampling from CEMRC for soil, water etc. This should give a better understanding of the scope of the release. DOE’s refusal to give more usable information has made clear verification of what has transpired quite difficult. Since plutonium is a high risk inhalation hazard even a small localized release is certainly cause for some concern.
