US New Nuclear Running Into Systemic Failures

The US department of Energy has granted billions in guarantees to get these projects off the ground. The promised efficiency and quality from making components offsite hasn’t happened. A new Associated Press report shows they may even be worse than the cost and quality of building plants on site. Since these factors were reasoned by the nuclear industry for why a previous generation of nuclear power plants were over budget and plagued with problems, it appears they may be in the same bind again. If the projects fail, US taxpayers will be on the hook for the guarantee amounts.
