Joint Offsite Emergency Center Fukushima Didn’t Have Quake Proof Generators

Another planning flaw was discovered. The joint offsite emergency center that was intended as a headquarters for TEPCO, METI and local government didn’t have power as they attempted to use the building. All the planning that went into this joint emergency operations center, nobody bothered to assure the generators could handle an earthquake. Without generators they had no power and no communications. The center was without power for about half a day during the start of the crisis.
