US & EU Food Monitoring

There has been a gradual effort to independently test foods from the US and Canada for radiation related to Fukushima. This page is a compilation of the results we have found. Each food title links to the original source where we found the testing. Those websites usually have additional information on the testing or item tested. We include foods produced elsewhere as the food supply is so global today. Food on a store shelf in the EU or US can easily come from just about anywhere, including areas of known contamination.

* A note on the recent jam findings. Most of the jams with detected cesium 137 were due to the actual location the berries were sourced from. Many European jam companies are sourcing berries from places known to have received considerable fallout from Chernobyl. These jams are marketed as coming from places people would not expect contaminated food to come from but the actual source of the fruit used differs from the marketing.
