Newspaper Uncovers Government Manipulating Fukushima Radiation Data

Newspaper Uncovers Government Manipulating Fukushima Radiation Data

The government entity involved in manipulating the radiation data with the intention of releasing a different set of lower results was PM Abe’s cabinet. Radiation levels in the cities of Tamura, Kawachi and Iitate were taken by JAEA and NIRS in late 2013. These new readings were taken by installing dosimeters in plastic boxes at various locations both indoors and outdoors for a number of days. This would gather data that would be more accurate for … Read entire article »

WIPP Update: New Radiation Readings

CEMRC has released some new radiation readings from the WIPP incident on February 14th. Previous readings reported by DOE can be found here. CEMRC readings below. Some notes to keep in mind. CEMRC cites a “per sample” on their becquerel readings. DOE does not, so it is not 100% clear if the bq readings from the two sources are comparable. CEMRC’s readings appear to confirm the DOE readings showing the release blew to the north west. The sample … Read entire article »

Fukushima & The Controversy Of The Pacific

Fukushima & The Controversy Of The Pacific

There were big concerns thrown around about the situation in the Pacific related to Fukushima in the last year. Oceanographers raised concerns that the plant was still leaking, something TEPCO denied at the time. Newer testing had shown that contamination levels in sea life had not decreased as it should have indicating that the plant was continuing to leak over two years after the initial meltdowns. TEPCO later admitted this to be true. Testing further out … Read entire article »

TEPCO Admits Most Radiation Readings May Be Wrong

TEPCO Admits Most Radiation Readings May Be Wrong

TEPCO has admitted a large number of their radiation readings taken since 2011 may be wrong and much lower than reality. An audit will be performed on old data from 2011 until October 2013. TEPCO called the audit “massive”. Their explanation is that high radiation samples had a “counting miss” where the total level of radiation in the sample is not accurately recorded. Some media reports questioned TEPCO’s excuse. We have not seen NRA’s view of … Read entire article »

TEPCO Withholds Radiation Data For Unit 2

7 days ago TEPCO took radiation readings along with temperature readings inside unit 2. This was part of an effort to try to look inside the reactor vessel pedestal. These critical radiation readings have not been disclosed and no reason given for such a delay. These radiation readings could indicate important information about the condition of the melted fuel and its location. This is unusual compared to other efforts to scope unit 2 or unit 1 where radiation readings were given along with the other data. Where & How Fukushima Daiichi Leaks

After the new round of contaminated water leaks were admitted by TEPCO, we revisited the technical design of the buildings and where they could leak from. The buildings themselves are not as solid and contained as one would assume. Even the containment structure has hundreds of “holes” in it for pipes, cabling and the torus vents to pass through. These are sealed to prevent leaks but the penetration seal materials can melt or otherwise fail. Worker Happy11311 mentions exactly how many penetration holes are in the outer reactor building walls. Happy’s tweet, machine translated to English. If there are 590 building penetrations that are below the groundwater level, each of those provides a potential route out for contaminated water. The groundwater height is about 3000 OP as seen with the blue line … Read entire article »

More Rising Contamination, NRA Says Fukushima Leaking To The Sea

Cesium levels rose again today in the 1-2 groundwater well near the sea. Groundwater observation hole No.1-2 were detected at: 11,000Bq/L and 22,000Bq/L, respectively. (Cesium-134 and cesium-137) they were at 9,000Bq/L and 18,000Bq/L previously. There were some other minor increases at the north intake and at the surface between intakes 1 and 2. The NRA is now saying it is “strongly suspected that highly radioactive water at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is seeping into the ground and contaminating the Pacific Ocean.” It has long been assumed the plant continued to leak into the sea even though TEPCO has attempted to deny it over the last two years as unabated water dumping ceased. NRA officials stated that the source of the leak needs to be identified and stopped as a priority. TEPCO is now trying … Read entire article »
